В 1920-х годах правительство Вены решило стандартизировать уличные знаки по всему городу. Шрифт был специально разработан для этой цели. Он был доступен в версиях Heavy и Bold Condensed, чтобы поддерживать как короткие, так и длинные названия улиц. Шли годы, шрифт был принят и перерисован несколькими фабриками по производству эмали. Эти изменения приводят к вариациям в дизайне и к тому факту, что нет шрифта для венских уличных указателей, а есть 16 - отчасти строго - разных версий. «Генриетта» не является оцифровкой любой из этих версий; скорее, на него влияют все они. Курсивные версии полностью оригинальны и разработаны для сопровождения римского.
